What the statuses mean

Under review
Actively before the FDA advisory committee; a decision is pending and the status can move.
In limbo
Moved on paper - nominated, removed from a restricted list, or recommended by an FDA committee - but not added to the 503A list. The headline implies a change; the legal status has not moved.
Restricted
Prescription-only, banned, controlled, or under active FDA enforcement.
Compounding-legal
A licensed pharmacy may compound it on prescription: it is on the FDA 503A bulk-substances list or is an ingredient of an FDA-approved drug that is not on the market. This is not the same as being an FDA-approved drug.
Unscheduled
No specific federal action; unaddressed at this time.

Status is never reduced to “legal / illegal.” Each badge pairs a color with a word, and every entry links to the primary source behind it. How we track it.

Asked and answered

How many peptides does Peptlas track, and what are their statuses?
Peptlas currently tracks 26 compounds under U.S. FDA process: 17 in limbo, 8 restricted, 1 compounding-legal. Every entry is human-verified, dated, and linked to its primary source.
Are the peptides on this list FDA-approved?
No. This index tracks regulatory status under the FDA’s compounding framework, not drug approval. Even a “compounding-legal” status means only that a licensed pharmacy may compound the substance under Section 503A - it is not the same as being an FDA-approved drug.
What does “in limbo” mean when a peptide is on this list?
Moved on paper - nominated, removed from a restricted list, or recommended by an FDA committee - but not added to the 503A list. The headline implies a change; the legal status has not moved.
